Exciting British Biology Challenge Results

We share details on this landmark competition's results for ScienceTeX students, that effectively proves that ScienceTeX's goal of teaching advanced science is real and alive.

Here's The Infographic With The Details Sent to Parents!

What was it?

The British Biology Challenge is an annual competition hosted by the UKBC, a British charity group that hosts biology competitions. They host 3 annual competitions, the Biology Challenge, the Intermediate Biology Olympiad, and the Biology Olympiad. The Biology Challenge was designed for 13-15 year olds, and is mainly focused on topics that are taught in schools. However, they also include scientific advances and test critical thinking skills, truly exemplifying and awarding students with great skill.

How Were the Scores?

The scores our students received were outstanding, especially considering that many of our students are well below the age range the competition was designed for. This competition covered a variety of topics, including anatomy, ecology, and cellular biology, many of which our students have not yet covered in school. Over half our students who competed received some form of award, with our students having 3 gold medalists, 5 silver medalists, 5 bronze medalists, 14 highly commended and commended.

What Does This Mean?

To simply put this in perspective, ScienceTeX put its students in a competition that was meant for 9th and 10th graders. Think about it, ScienceTeX put elementary and early middle school students in a competition meant for smart high schoolers. Effectively, our students performed on a competition that has content 7 years ahead of them. (IE: 4th grader earns medal, age 8.)

This competition effectively validated that ScienceTeX's unique approach to teaching science, is well being well executed, and succeeds in its goal to teach science that is up to 10 years ahead of the student.

Here's A Poster Of Our Students Who Won Awards!

Suffice to say, our students are impressive. They greatly punched above their weight class in a international level competition.

What Else Does This Mean?

This competition means a lot. We are effectively paving a new path unseen before, advanced science in a co-curricular setting, which has actually never been done before with mass success, in a group setting. Your student's attendance in a project like ScienceTeX is one of a kind, and as we keep on improving our classes, methods, and add more projects ScienceTeX is only accelerating ahead in its goal to help as many students around the world discover advanced science!

Here Are A Few Teasers To What's Coming Next And A Few Updates On Existing Things!

  • Class durations were increased from 60 to 80 minutes, giving us more time to teach, advance instruction and provide more interactive activities.

  • Our Human Physiology Unit commenced in our 1A/1B Batch, a landmark unit which goes into the human body at a pre-med level. In addition, this unit incorporates ScienceTeX Fusion, a framework for combining the natural sciences and the world of technology, to better teach science and paint a better picture of the world.

  • Our ScienceTeX SuperPortal Recently Added Quizziz Quizzing ability, allowing students to actively listen to a lesson asynchronously along with active quizzing, a boon for student success and understanding!

  • Our Batch 3A/3B is slated to begin in July 2021, our third major batch till inception.

  • ScienceTeX plans to introduce ScienceTeX NEX in a few weeks, a new hub for students to see the opportunities and competitions available to them as part of ScienceTeX. These competitions in NEX will have awards and potentially monetary awards as well.

  • We recently passed the 110 lesson mark, a landmark moment for ScienceTeX. While it's still too early for ScienceTeX Data Report Revision 4.0, our lessons are trending at close to 87% scaled accuracy, which is close to our goal of 90% average lesson accuracy.

  • We entered a agreement with Beyond The Five and Auxin Academy recently as a consortium to produce interactive science animation content that will eventually be used in all 3 platforms and eventually classrooms around the world.
